Serials Solutions Pre-Release Notification & Upcoming System Downtime

View this page in your web browser

Pre-Release Notification

Serials Solutions

Serials Solutions is excited to pre-announce enhancements to be released later next week and provide you advanced notification of system downtime for the Serials Solutions Client Center & Ulrich's services next weekend (Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16). In addition, we'd like to inform you of our 360 Access Control and Ulrichsweb releases coming in December.

New 360 Core, 360 Link, 360 Search and Serials Solutions Client Center enhancements!

Next week we will be releasing service enhancements that continue to make it easier for you to facilitate the discovery of your resources by patrons. You will be able to easily activate the following new patron-facing enhancements and localization facets through the enhanced Client Center Administrative Console:

  • New Administration Console organization for 360 Core E-Journal Portal and 360 Link: Save time by quickly configuring these services to work in the manner that best meets your needs— without having to contact Serials Solutions Library Support. The order of the configuration icons shown here for E-Journal Portal and here for 360 Link have been modified for configuring these services, and the detailed configuration settings have been re-organized to optimize the process for finding and changing related configuration settings.
  • New bibliographic citation management options available within 360 Link: Users will now be able to save and share research bibliographies through RefWorks, EndNote (Desktop and Web versions), ProCite, and Reference Manager.
  • New "on-the-fly" language selection through the 360 Core E-Journal Portal and 360 Link interfaces: Activate a drop-down menu in the 360 Core E-Journal Portal and 360 Link interfaces to enable users to self-select language display. Click here to view a screen shot of this functionality.
  • New language support available for 360 Services: Take advantage of language support across a total of 22 languages within the 360 Core E-Journal Portal, 360 Link interfaces, and 360 Search. Click here to view all the languages that will be available within each service and how they can be easily activated in the Client Center.
  • New Chinese and Korean character sorting options for the 360 Core E-Journal Portal: Librarians can improve the discovery of resources by including new Chinese (Pinyin, Zhuyin, Stroke) and Korean sorting options. This unique enhancement enables users to pick the character sorting method of their choice, supplementing the Japanese option already available.
  • New Custom Text Options for 360 Core E-Journal Portal and 360 Link interfaces: Customize any piece of text displayed within the 360 Core E-Journal Portal and 360 Link interfaces, across any language, to make resource discovery easier for your patrons. Like with 360 Search, you can modify, preview and activate each change within the Administrative Console. Click here to take a quick peek at the options available through 360 Core E-Journal Portal, and click here for the 360 Link options.

Click here to be notified when this release becomes available.

Upcoming System Downtime

To release next week's enhancements, we will require an extended period of system downtime. Please note the following system impacts:

  • Serials Solutions Client Center, Ulrichsweb, and Ulrich's Serials Analysis System will be unavailable for a period up to four hours, starting at 6 p.m. PDT on Friday, October 15 (World Time Clock Conversion). Notices will be on these sites during this time reminding you that we are performing maintenance.
  • Patrons using 360 Core E-Journal Portal and 360 Link may experience slight interruptions and possible service degradations for short periods of time between the hours of 12:00 - 6:00 am PDT on Saturday, October 16 (World Time Clock Conversion).

After these upgrades, all services will continue to function as they always have. We will remind you again of this system downtime next week.

Coming in mid-December: New 360 Access Control service and enhanced Ulrichsweb interface!

We have two significant developments scheduled for release mid-December, both which will improve the patron experience at your library:

  • 360 Access Control: Our new hosted proxy service will simplify the patron experience by authenticating users and providing immediate access to all entitled e-resources, while leveraging our service elements (Software as a Service (SaaS), Client Center, and support personnel) to reduce your workload and increase your efficiency. Learn more by viewing the 360 Access Control data sheet.
• Ulrichsweb™: We're enhancing the Ulrichsweb interface to make it possible for librarians and researchers to take advantage of how Ulrich's has grown and evolved to meet changing information needs. Enhancements include: new search capabilities, export and research sharing options, personalization and localization options, and further integration with Serials Solutions 360 services and Summon.

Stay tuned for more information about each of these releases. If you would like a price quote for either the new 360 Access Control service or Ulrichsweb, please simply email us at info@serialssolutions.com.

Thank you for your continued support.

Michael
