Dear Anne Hinseth, AAAS is pleased to announce the launch of our new mobile websites and the release of the free Science Mobile App. Mobile-Friendly Websites The online editions of Science and Science Translational Medicine are now optimized for mobile devices. Coming soon for Science Signaling! The mobile sites provide readers with the most-used features of the full website, and are compatible with all popular mobile devices. Mobile devices will automatically redirect to the mobile-friendly version of each site—which you can also view on any Internet browser by going to m.ScienceMag.org and m.STM.ScienceMag.org. Science Mobile App For iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android Phones Coming soon for the iPad! To download the free app, simply scan the barcodes on the right with your mobile device. To share the news with your patrons, please download our flyer here. Science Mobile App Content The app provides access to the Weekly Tables of Contents and article abstracts for Science, Science Signaling, and Science Translational Medicine. The app's offline feature saves the latest data you accessed on your mobile device and allows for offline reading, saving valuable bandwidth. Mobile App users receive some free full-text articles, such as "This Week in Science," weekly Editorials, and articles found in ScienceNOW, our daily news service. Full-Text Access for Site License Subscribers Mobile Websites: Mobile devices operating on a cellular network will not be paired with a Site License. However, mobile devices connected to a wireless network affiliated with a Site License will have seamless full-text access to licensed content. Mobile App: At this time, the Science Mobile App does not offer access to full-text licensed content. Patrons who wish to read full-text articles must send themselves an e-mail with the DOI link of the full-text article from within the app. As technology expands we will be developing solutions to pair mobile devices with your Institute's Site License. Our Mobile Strategy fits well with AAAS' long standing history of leading scientific progress and our mission to advance science around the world. Thank you, Tom Ryan, Director scienceonline@aaas.org PS. I hope you and your patrons will take advantage of our mobile-optimized content today to start reading Science from anywhere. |
